Cats are a familiar sight in this country as a popular household pet a status which the animals have enjoyed for around 9,500 years.
There are a number of skills and attributes that cats have. Cats are very skilled hunters, which is not surprising especially to anyone who has observed a cat hiding in long grass when they have their sights on a bird. In these circumstances they tend to resemble feline predators such as lions instead of domesticated cats. In fact, cats have over 1,000 forms of prey in total that go beyond simple mice or small birds. With good hearing and eyesight as well as good taste and sense of touch, cats are very good at what they do and this trait was once something that people valued in the animals, when people owned them to tackle vermin.
But they are also a lovable companion that people find very cute. Kittens are regularly used as images on greetings cards and other pictures as they are a pleasing sight. For this same reason, they are often used in advertising to make a product look more appealing.
It goes to show that the domestic cat has a lot to offer.
